the poultry podcast show Nov 01, 2022

How does a university research feed mill work? As far as the routine goes, feed mill researchers conduct experiments, facilitate the manufacture of research diets to meet internal or external demands, and deal with day-to-day operations associated with budgeting, maintenance, and human resources, for example. All of it with the aim of advancing science in this field. However, what are some of the challenges and opportunities within University Feed Mill programs? In this episode, Dr. Fahrenholz and I talk about feed manufacturing technology and feed manufacturing process management, especially in universities. Additionally, he offers insight into advising students and developing educational resources for classes.

What you’ll learn:

  1. Challenges and opportunities in University Feed Mill programs
  2. Feed mill applications for NIR
  3. New feed mills and the addition of in-line NIR
  4. The “art” of steam quality
  5. Training for Preventive Control Qualified Individuals (PCQI)
