Meet the guest: Dr. Derald Holtkamp is a Professor of Swine Production Medicine at Iowa State University and has held the position for over 15 years. Dr. Holtkamp’s research focuses on the management of infectious swine diseases, biosecurity, disease risk assessment, and the economics of animal health and disease with an emphasis on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). He is directing the Production Animal Disease Risk Assessment Program (PADRAP) at Iowa State University focusing on the development, management, and promotion of disease risk assessment tools and databases of completed risk assessments held by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.
