Poultry Nutrition Blackbelt - #10 - From lesions to losses: investigating subclinical necrotic enteritis - Part 2
Aug 22, 2023Subclinical necrotic enteritis, caused by the bacterium named Clostridium perfringens, can lead to performance losses due to compromised nutrient absorption arising from localized lesions in the intestinal tissue. With an innovative model based on the natural uptake of C. perfringens from the barn environment in order to induce a subclinical infection, Emanuele Goes, M.Sc, and her research team evaluated three products, each one of them featuring a different mechanism of action. The aim was to assess their potential in the prevention or mitigation of subclinical necrotic enteritis in broilers.
